Our love of plants, nature, and la dolce far niente (the sweet pleasure of doing nothing) ignites our fire and infuses our approach to life, our community involvement, and the medicines we grow and make by hand.
Our farming philosophy is grounded in regenerative, sustainable, and community-based practices. What is best for the land is always what is best for the people, too.
Whether in the garden, the kitchen, the farm’s apothecary or around town, we cultivate connection to nature and neighbor as the pathway to health and wellness.
Apotheosis Farm is a living classroom where nature is our greatest teacher
Since purchasing the property in 2011, we have joyfully discovered the many medicinal plants and trees that thrive on this land.
Our actions and choices benefit from patient observation. On the farm, that has meant cultivating a presence of partnership with the plants and paying attention to where and how they want to grow here. For the first three years, we planted red clover as a cover crop to amend the soil and transition our tillable acres to organic growing practices.
During this time, we waited and we watched. Where were the plants choosing to offer their medicines? The volunteer strawberries in our garden were among our first teachers of this philosophy. These berries are the most delicious we have ever eaten, and it occurred to us — “It’s because they chose to be here.”
So, to the maximum extent possible, we cultivate wildcrafted medicinal plants throughout our 34 acres in addition to the 23 raised garden beds where we grow more carefully curated plantings. Our small flock of chickens and guinea hens, our composting program, our permaculture design, our solar dehydration system, and our commitment to organics are all undertaken to support the natural environment using regenerative and sustainable farming practices.
As with most things in life, we don’t need to know all the answers. It’s more important to be guided by the right questions. Our farm philosophy is rooted in these:
How would our collective relationship to the environment change if we cultivated more spaces to teach and share the wisdom of nature?
What would be the community impact of revolutionizing farming practices for sustainable foods, herbal medicines, and land management?
It is our honor to share this bounty of wellness with you.
Our planet needs each of us to awaken to the best version of ourselves. Restoring our connection to the natural world and each other unlocks innate wisdom that guides living well. There is something quite magical about this farm, transforming all who are touched by its medicine. We are blessed to steward this land.
